Guided Estate Clearouts in Kelowna & the Okanagan
Estate Clearout Direction for Hands-On Families
Some families want to take an active role in downsizing or clearing an estate. They have relatives and friends willing to sort, pack and move items, but need someone experienced to organize the work, direct the people involved and keep the project moving forward.
Managing an entire household involves decisions about what to keep, what may have value, where everything should go and how to complete the work within the available time.
Birdies offers Guided Estate Clearouts for exactly this situation.
Our Team Leads provide experienced on-site direction, organize the work and coordinate the people involved. Family members and friends participate in the process while Birdies provides the structure, experience and leadership needed to move the project forward
How Guided Estate Clearouts Work
Birdies begins with a walkthrough to establish the timeline, identify what is being kept and assess the volume of contents and available family help.
From there, a practical work plan is developed with the family. One of our Team Leads will direct the work on-site, organize the family members and friends who are helping, and keep the project moving forward.
Depending on the property, this may include:
Establishing priorities and the order of work
Setting up sorting, packing and staging areas
Assigning tasks to family members and other helpers
Identifying personal items, important documents and potential valuables
Separating items for individual sale, auction, reuse or disposal
Planning transportation, storage and removal
Coordinating additional services where required
Birdies manages the workflow and assists with decisions about what is kept, sold or removed
“Birdies Estate made the process so much easier by helping my clients sell items they no longer needed while also allowing them to make money from those belongings.”
A Hands-On Approach
For some families, being involved in the clearout is important. They want the opportunity to go through items themselves, make decisions together and take an active role in preparing the property for its next use.
However, coordinating several people, managing priorities and keeping the work organized can become a project of its own.
With a Birdies Team Lead directing the work, family members can focus on the tasks they want to participate in without having to manage the entire process.
Family involvement can be valuable, but without clear direction, it can also lead to disagreements, delays and costly mistakes. Having an experienced Birdies Team Lead on-site helps everyone work from the same plan, keeps decisions moving and reduces the risk of important details being overlooked.
When Additional Services Are Needed
Some parts of a clearout require equipment, transportation or specialized experience beyond what family members can reasonably provide.
Birdies can arrange additional services as needed, including:
Individual item sales and auction coordination
Large furniture and heavy item removal
Trailer and hauling services
Transportation to storage or auction facilities
Disposal and recycling
Packing and moving assistance
Final property cleanout and preparation for sale
These services can be incorporated into the project as needed, allowing family members to remain involved while Birdies handles tasks requiring additional resources.
Is This the Right Option?
Guided Estate Clearouts are suited to families, executors and homeowners who want to take an active role in clearing a property but would benefit from professional leadership.
This approach works particularly well when several people are available to help and would prefer to work together under the direction of an experienced Team Lead.
Guide: Before You Get Family Help to Clear an Estate, Consider This
For those who prefer to have the work handled entirely by professionals, Birdies also offers full-service estate clearouts.
Start with a Walkthrough
A walkthrough allows Birdies to review the property, establish the timeline and discuss how family members would like to participate.
From there, we'll develop a practical work plan and determine how much on-site leadership will be needed.
Guided Estate Clearouts are arranged in scheduled working sessions, with a minimum booking period. Additional support and services can be arranged as the project progresses.
